Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist

Hi, I’m Dr. Annie Hsueh (pronounced “SHAY”), Founder of Hope and Sage Psychological Services. I have dedicated my professional career towards helping individuals and couples understand and strengthen their relationships.

Native to Southern California, I completed my undergraduate bachelor of science degree in Psychology Magna Cum Laude from University of California, San Diego. Wanting to learn more about couple’s relationship and psychotherapy, I moved to Texas for graduate school because it gave me the opportunity to get trained in Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT) and Insight-Oriented Couple Therapy by experts in the field. I received both my master’s and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Texas A&M University. My work in those years culminated in publishing peer-reviewed journal articles and presenting at national conferences in the area of couple relationships.

I completed my APA-Accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship at the University of Michigan the University Center for Child and Family and the University of Michigan Psychological Clinic. Wanting to be closer to family, I moved back to California to pursue my postdoctoral training. I completed two years of APA-Accredited Postdoctoral Fellowship in Women’s Behavioral Health at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Since becoming licensed as a psychologist in 2013, I have worked in various settings including medical center, university counseling, and private practice. Always seeking to better my craft, I am dedicated to continue pursuing opportunities to advance my knowledge in the field, including completing extensive advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) in the past few years and becoming a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist.

Outside of work, I enjoy sipping on tea latte and reading, doing yoga, trying new food, and spending time with my family and friends.

My pronouns are she/her/hers.
